Cort Cottage Bed and Breakfast PO Box 245 $155/ two persons, $10 for each additional person Elsah Cort invites you to enjoy a peaceful sojourn in Salt Creek Canyon. The private guest cottage, fits snugly into a hillside and herb garden and was built in 1986 as a home for Elsah's grandma with a panoramic view of mountain, meadow and sky. Cort Cottage is found at the end of a rural road, adjacent to the Case Mountain public land area of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), where hiking, mountain biking and exploring is welcomed. The cottage offers a queen-size bed, a full-size futon sofa in the living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a private bath with a step-down tile tub, a TV with DVD player, a stereo with CD player, an outdoor deck with shade umbrella, and a carefully selected library of books and games. Wifi-broadband internet service via satellite is available for computers with wireless capabilities. Breakfast includes homemade muffins and granola, fresh fruit, juice, milk and eggs (for the guests to prepare, if desired). Freshly ground coffee and herbal teas are offered in the cottage kitchen. During the winter months, you can enjoy the secluded outdoor hot tub located directly under the Milky Way. The hot tub is not available during the summer months. Your host works at home, creating collages and poetry for her greeting card company, "The Other Shore", and as an RN and bodyworker, practicing craniosacral therapy and feng shui consulting, and a nursing burnout retreat instructor. Relaxing integrative bodywork sessions are available for guests in craniosacral therapy; ask about session appointments for you during your stay when you make your reservation or when you arrive. VISA/MC, cash and travelers checks are accepted. One half of total reservation is required as a deposit, accepted on MC/VISA. Deposit is not refundable for cancellation but can be extended for future stay, if cancellation is made one week prior to reservation. No smoking allowed inside the cottage. No pets accepted. There is a two night minimum stay, with a three night minimum stay on holiday weekends, and four night minimum for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The cottage offers a special weekly rate (single occupancy) for writer's, artist's, or personal retreats. 4.4 miles from the Ash Mountain main Sequoia National Park entrance. |

River Front Cabins 40462 Sierra Drive (HWY 198) $55-295/ two persons, $10 additional person The ten cabins are comfortably equipped and furnished, a perfect getaway for couples as well families with up to 8 persons. All the cabins enjoy a commanding river and mountain view with access to the river, great for fishing, relaxing and enjoying “nature pure.” The standard cabins feature A/C, TV (Satellite PRIME), microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator and private bath. Some cabins provide a kitchen, some also have additional a balcony and a loft. The loft features one double bed and two single beds (for up to 4 additional persons.) The largest cabin accommodates up to 8 persons. It features two bed rooms each with one queen bed, a full bath and a living room with a seating area in front of the gas burning fire place and TV. This seating area includes a pull-out sleeper sofa for 2 persons. Attached to the living area is a kitchen with dining table. Linen, towels, soap and shampoo are provided. The tranquil setting can be enjoyed from the deck, shaded yard and patios at stream's edge. Country comforts include a bicycle ride, coffee by the fireplace in the common room, a game of chess or a movie and popcorn in the media room, or leisurely reading from the library of books on the local history of the Yokut and Potwisha Indian tribes, local ranchers and homesteaders or the founding of Sequoia, the nation's second oldest National Park. Each bedroom has a high ceiling, tiled floor, queen-sized bed, satellite TV/VCR, telephone, high-speed Internet, ceiling fan, wood-burning fireplace, A/C, heat, private verandah, private river view, private river access, private bathroom with tub/shower. Air mattresses or cots are available for 2 additional guests per room. Common areas include heated outdoor swimming pool, and small hot tub in the courtyard facing the river. Laundry room, business fax available. Other amenities include pool table, foos ball, ping pong, table games, books, videos, and music. Swim "toys" include a poolside basketball goal, poolside volleyball net, small sandbox for children, and a small above-ground baby pool. In the wintertime, breakfast is served in the common room, accented by candlelight and firelight from the large wood-burning fireplace. In the spring, summer, and fall, breakfast may be served in the courtyard outside, as a lovely alternative. Breakfast favorites include Catherine's quiche, blackberry cobbler, baked Granny Smith apple, pancakes with hot fruit compote on top, spiced apple yogurt, spiced persimmon yogurt, seasonal fresh fruit, and spiced apple cider. Designed in 1901 by a Pasadena architect for Monica's ancestor, Illinois State Senator Fred E. Harding, the incomparable two-story craftsman-style home shows elements of a British Colonial style found in India and Africa--a must-stay for lovers of history, antiques, original art, and oriental rugs. Choose the peaceful Juliana Suite with 360 degree views of trees, mountains and sunsets, the Lucy Harding Room with its vintage queen-size bed and private bath or the Garden Cottage with stacked beds (the top a twin, the bottom one a full-size feather bed), intimate enclosed garden shower and private patio entrance. Wicky-Up is a member of the slow foods movement, buying fresh, organic and locally whenever possible. A luscious candlelight breakfast of homemade treats and fresh squeezed organic orange juice is served in the formal dining room to a background of classical music. Some favorites are baked french toast naranjo, fresh dill egg souffles, omeletes with roasted rosemary potatoes, lemon ricotta pancakes, lavender/honey glazed organic grapefruit. Little "extras" include Wi-Fi, beverages on the verandah, in the garden, or by the fireplace, fresh cut flowers, fluffy bathrobes, gardens with cooing doves, a detailed tour of the historic home, and unforgettable, old-fashioned hospitality. Monica's careers have included school teaching, flight attending for American Airlines, law office administration, British tour booking, motherhood, and managing three small businesses. Jack's hobbies, which are becoming a cottage industry, are woodworking and copper sculpture. He uses his building skills to renovate old properties to rent. He has a background in electrical/mechanical engineering which he applies to their heating/cooling business. He finds farming a healthy contrast. Ask about year-round specials.
